Robin Walker, DipRAM, PPDip, BMus(Perf), LRAM.
Robin Walker has conducted Cantate for the past eight years, leading them in repertoire from the Mediaeval to the present day. Highlights include Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation, Mozart’s Requiem and Renaissance Revealed, an evening of Italian polyphony with instruments and projected images.
Robin trained as an organist at the Royal Academy of Music and now enjoys a mixture of recital work, conducting, singing and teaching alongside his position as Organist at La Badia Fiorentina (Florence Abbey), where he plays the 1558 Zeffirini organ. He has worked with and recorded the music of John Ellis (Divine Arts label) and Frederick Frahm (recorded in Albuquerque, New Mexico). This month sees the release of his most recent recording, ‘Byrd to Blow – the English Baroque Organ’, recorded on the restored historic organ of St Giles-in-the-Fields church, London, including music by William Byrd, Henry Purcell and John Blow among others. This is released on the Herald label.
