Poetry In Music

For its next concert at 7.30 on June 10 at St Mary’s Church, Platt, The Cantate Choir is presenting Poetry in Music, a programme of musical settings of poems including Vaughan-Williams’ Toward the Unknown Region to words by Walt Whitman. The programme will also include settings by William Mathias of well-known Shakespearean verses such as Under the Greenwood Tree and Full Fathom Five.

The choir will again be joined by Michael Higgins an outstanding pianist who will play music by Chopin and Mozart as well as accompany the choir.
