Press Release
Messiah
7.30pm, Saturday 21 March 2009 - St Nicholas' Church, Sevenoaks
Cantate chamber choir will be performing Handel’s great much-loved masterpiece, The Messiah on Saturday, 21st March.
For this performance Cantate will be joined by the excellent orchestral ensemble Vivace! playing period instruments, and accomplished soloists. The conductor will be the choir’s musical Director, Robin Walker.
On the day of the concert, between 1.50 – 2.40 pm., the choir extends a warm invitation to young people aged 8 -14 to listen to part of the afternoon’s rehearsal for the concert in the church. Robin Walker will give a brief introduction and explain how a rehearsal works. This is a free exciting opportunity for young people to hear a high quality chamber choir and some of London’s top musicians perform a part of one of the greatest pieces ever written without having to sit through a long concert. As the rehearsal will work to a tight time schedule the audience should be seated by 1.50pm.
2009 is the 250th anniversary of the death of Handel and this concert promises to be a superb musical occasion to savour a few weeks before the Easter period.
Tickets priced £12, including refreshments at the end of the concert, are available from Sevenoaks Bookshop, 147 High Street and the Cantate box office on 01732 770570. www.cantate-choir.info
