Blest pair of sirens
C Hubert Parry - (1848-1918)
What better finish to an evening of Romantic choral music than this grand piece by a master of English choral music, setting words by that greatest of visionary English poets John Milton. Originally dedicated to Stanford and the Bach Choir, the credentials for this short, yet monumental, piece are awesome. It is a fantastic, all stops out, eight-part choral vision of heaven, where clearly only singers and lovers of song have a place. So we are all right then!
